A great opportunity would exist for the P.N.M. to form itself into a political party and to partake in the postponed General Elections of 1955.
In the height of this suspense, the Legislative Council Member for St. George West, Edwin Duval stated: “Each and every person, man or woman, elected member or not, who has signed the Majority Report, has signed his own death certificate… Postponement for six or twelve months is probably just what is needed for a strong political party to emerge out of the ruins…” This statement was to show how prophetic its speaker was, for yes, it was during this period that the P. N. M. was formed as a political group in 1955, and subsequently inaugurated and publicly launched in five months’ time in January, the following year of 1956.
